Imitate cracked layers of varnish on old items by applying this classic crackle varnish system, which becomes waterproof after drying, to create a layer of surface cracks. Apply component 1 to the surface of the object already decorated; once dry apply the component 2. The second varnish layer will crack as it dries; to emphasize the cracks, rub various coloring materials (e.g. PENTART antique paste) onto the surface. Pattern of cracks depends on the direction of the brush strokes and the thickness of the two layers of varnish applied.
